Tishani Doshi, born in Madras, is a poet, novelist, and dancer. Her poetry collections include Countries of the Body, winner of the Forward Prize, and Girls Are Coming Out of the Woods (Copper Canyon Press, 2018). Her novel The Pleasure Seekers has been translated into several languages, and Small Days and Nights was a New York Times Bestsellers Editor’s Choice. She is a visiting professor of creative writing at New York University Abu Dhabi and lives in Tamil Nadu, India.

Buffaloes

Buffaloes—a dream of them:

bodies like continents.
A whole world thundering
through Indian laburnum.
